Labour lose Cardiff seat to Tories

Labour have lost a seat to the Conservatives in Cardiff, making the stats Labour: 2, Conservatives: 2 and Liberal Democrats: 1.

Jonathan Evans took the seat won by Labour in the previous general election in 2005 for the Conservatives after a recount. He won with 17,860 votes (just 194 seats more than Labour representative, Julie Morgan).

Kevin Brennan won for Labour in Cardiff West with 16,893 votes and Labour’s success was repeated in Cardiff South and Penarth – where Alun Michael earned 17,262 votes.

Liberal Democrat, Jennifer Willott kept hold of her seat with 14,976 votes.
